As strange as it sounds, eating fat can actually help you lose weight. Not only that, your memory and your immune system(免疫系统) will improve from eating fat. It is a very bad idea to remove fat completely from your diet. "Good" fats are quite necessary. These good fats come from things like vegetable oil, cold-water fish, etc. Eating the right kind of fat and avoiding the wrong kind is the most important part.

1,000 rats in a study were fed a diet high in saturated(饱和的) fats, the kind in milk, cheese and red meat. Part way through, 500 of the rats had omega-3 fatty acids(不饱和脂肪酸) added to their diet. Not replaced, but added. "All of them lost weight and their heart problems got better." They were eating double the fat." This is why we need to know the value of fat and how Americans have got it all wrong for tens of years. Fat is amazing!

We need fats to keep our body not only healthy but also active. When you cut too much fat out of your diet or eat the wrong fats, something bad will happen to your body. The best fats are omega 3 fatty acids, coming from vegetable oil and oil from cold-water fish. Saturated fats like those in cheese, beef and chicken and milk should play smaller roles in our diet. Meat fats should be avoided, along with oils in things like butter and snack foods. Old oils of any kind are also bad for you.

  56. What is the main idea of this passage?

  A. It tells the readers about the value of fat. B. We should cut fat in our diet.

  C. Eating fat food is good for us. D. Do's and don'ts in our diet.

  57. The study in Paragraph 2 showed that ______.

  A. the more fat you have in your diet, the worse it is

  B. omega-3 fats are not good for health

  C. not all fat is bad for health

  D. saturated fats are very good for health

  58. From this passage, we learn that _____.

  A. Americans haven't had fat for tens of years

  B. the right kind of fat can help us to keep healthy

  C. we should have a lot of fat in our diet to be healthy

  D. fat in our food has no relation with the fat in our body

  59. According to the passage, which of the following is the best for our health?

  A. Butter. B. Chicken. C. Beef. D. Cold-water fish.

  B

It would be pleasant to believe that all young girls in the past got married for romantic reasons; but the fact is that many of them regarded marriage as their only chance to gain independence from their parents, to have a provider, or to be assured of a good place in society. A couple of generations ago, an old maid of twenty-five did not have much to look forward to, she was more or less fated to remain with her parents or to live in some relative’s home where she would help with the chores and the children. Not so any more. In the first place, women remain young much longer than they used to, and an unmarried woman of twenty-eight or thirty does not feel that her life is over. Besides, since she is probably working and supporting herself, she is free to marry only when and if she chooses. As a result, today’s women tend (倾向) to marry later in life. They have fewer children-or none at all- if they prefer to devote themselves to their profession. The result is a decline in the birthrate.

The new role that women have developed for themselves has changed family life. Children are raised differently; they spend more time with adults who are not their parents: baby sitters, day-care center personnel, relatives, or neighbors. Whether they gain or lose in the process is a hotly debated question. Some child experts believe that young children must spend all their time with their mother if they are to grow sound in body and mind. Others think that children get more from a mother who spends with them “quality time” (a time of fun and relaxation set aside for them)rather than hours of forced and unhappy baby sitting. And many child psychologists point out that children kept in day-care centers every day are brighter than those raised at home. No matter what it is, one thing about child raising to be certain of is that the longer the child is with the mother, the better.

  60. It can be concluded from the passage that______.

  A. women today have developed a new role in family life

  B. the birthrate is declining as a result of women’s pursuit(追求) of careers

  C. women have always been dependent on their parents even after marriage

  D. children must spend all their time with their mother if they are to grow sound

  61. The change in women’s attitude towards marriage results in all of the following EXCEPT______.

  A. more and more women quit(leave) jobs to take care of their children at home

  B. women today tend to marry later than they did

  C. women have less time to raise children

  D. more and more families remain childless

辽宁省实验中学2014届高三10月月考英语试题答案2

  C

One evening after dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Tisich called a family meeting. “We’ve had to make a difficult decision,” Mr. Tisich announced. “You see, your mother has been offered a post as co-director of a television station in Chicago. Unfortunately, the station is not here. After thinking long and hard about it, we’ve concluded that the right decision is to move to Chicago.”

Marc looked shocked, while his sister Rachel breathlessly started asking when they’d be moving. “It’s surprising, but exciting!” she said. Marc simply said, “We can’t go- I can’t leave all my friends. I’d rather stay here and live with Tommy Lyons!”

The Tisichs hoped that by the time they moved in August, Marc would grow more accustomed to the idea of leaving. However, he showed no signs of accepting the news, refusing to pack his belongings.

When the morning of the move arrived, Marc was nowhere to be found. His parents called Tommy Lyons’s house, but Mrs. Lyons said she hadn’t seen Marc. Mrs. Tisich became increasingly concerned, while her husband felt angry with their son for behaving so irresponsibly.

What they didn’t know was that Marc had started walking over to Tommy’s house, with a faint idea of hiding in the Lyons’s attic(阁楼) for a few days. But something happened on the way as Marc walked past all the familiar landscape of the neighborhood; the fence that he and his mother painted, the tree that he and his sister used to climb, the park where he and his father often took evening walks together. How much would these mean without his family, who make them special in the first place? Marc didn’t take the time to answer that question but instead hurried back to his house, wondering if there were any moving cartons(纸板箱) the right size to hold his record collection.64. The conflict in this story was caused by______.

  A. Marc and Rachel’s different tempers

  B. a quarrel between Tommy Lyons and Marc

  C. Marc’s disagreement with his parents about their move

  D. Mr. and Mrs. Tisich’s remark of Marc’s irresponsibility

  65. Marc and Rachel’s reactions to the move were similar in the way that both were______.

  A. surprised B. angry and upset

  C. anxious for more details D. worried about packing

  66. The reason for Marc’s going home was that______.

  A. he did not want to be left behind

  B. he realized his family was essential to him

  C. he hoped to reach an agreement with his parents

  D. he wished to be a more responsible person

  67. What would most likely happen next?

  A. Marc would bring his records over to the Lyons’s house.

  B. Mr. and Mrs. Tisich would call the police.

  C. Marc would join his family for house moving.

  D. Mr. and Mrs. Tisich would start searching for Marc

辽宁省实验中学2014届高三10月月考英语试题答案3

  第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分l0分)

The Internet has opened up a whole new online world for us to meet, chat and go where we’ve never been before.

But just as in face to face communication, there are some rules of behavior that should be followed when on line. 71 Imagine how you’d feel if you were in the other person’s shoes.

For anything you’re about to send: ask yourself, “Would I say this to the person’s face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread. 72

If someone in the chat room is rude to you, your instinct (本能) is to fire back in the same manner. But try not to do so. 73 If it was caused by a disagreement with another member, try to fix the situation by politely discussing it. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.

___74 Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, whether it’s a stupid question or an unnecessarily long answer, be kind about it. If it’s a small mistake, you may not need to say anything. Even if you feel strongly about it, think twice before saying anything. Having good manners yourself doesn’t give you license to correct everyone else. 75 At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended.

  A. It’s natural that there some people who speak rudely or make mistakes online.

  B. Repeat the process till you feel sure that you’d feel comfortable saying the words to the person’s face.

  C. Everyone was new to the network once.

  D. The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same way you would want to be treated.

  E. When you send short messages to a person online, you must say something beautiful to hear.

  F. You should either ignore the person, or use your chat software to block their messages.

  G. If you do decide to tell someone about a mistake, point it out politely.
